by Beth on May 5, 2010

Okay, the header should have been *not quite* Wordless Wednesday! Because today I wanted to share with you a few pictures from the opening day of the Baltimore Farmer’s Market and the winner of the Market Totes giveaway!

It was a crowded, hot humid Sunday…

flowerpots!

…full of pretty flowers…

look who ws at the opening!

…and unexpected guests.

A day to love this charm city.

Congratulations to Jen from Devourer of Books, who was randomly selected by Random.org to receive the market totes! Happy shopping Jen!

I was there too! Not much produce yet but I did pick up lots of basil plants- so far they seem pretty happy. Hopefully I won’t kill them off!

Amy–It’s true, there’s not much produce yet. But we got asparagus, along with milk, eggs, and cheese–the staples we’ve been missing all winter!–so we were happy customers!

I love this time (JFK Mkt) of year!

Yay for the market!! That’s awesome you saw S.R-B. I am taking my mom this sunday to get her to pick out flowers she wants!

Elizabeth–what a great idea for mother’s day! We’re going to be taking Noel’s Mom to EPCOT for the Flower Show! Seeing that EPCOT is in Florida, no market for us this week!

Very cool pics. Gallo is the oil and vinegar brand and I think it may mean rooster. I think!

I really like urban markets like that. Looks like a nice warm day, too.

Love the pics of your farmers market – I can’t wait for ours to open – not until June – and then its mostly flowers, root veggies – but there is cheese! :D

Love Farmer’s Markets. We have a couple here in Vegas but I haven’t heard good things about them. I definitely should check them out either way just to see.

Way to go Jen!! Our farmer’s market won’t open for another 2 weeks. Thanks for the tour.

I LOVE a good farmer market. even a not so good one is still great.
Of course we have neither around here…and this is the Garden State!

I hate to say it, but I’m worried that the market is turning into a huge food court. I’m all for people waiting in line at 7 a.m. for pit beef :) but it seems like the majority of people at the market are only their to buy their breakfast. I hate having to shuffle past people who insist on standing smack dab in the middle of the walkway drinking their coffee and eating their this or that. I’m venting…sorry.

I love that you included a picture of the fish guy’s stand! I can’t wait until more produce comes in.

Tracy–I’m a bit worried there are too many tourists at the market too, but I’m hoping it was just extra crowded because it was opening weekend and there’s been so much press about the market. Fingers crossed it won’t be like that all season!
