aren’t horseshoe crabs the most prehistoric looking creatures? maybe because they are prehistoric.
did you know their blood is blue?
love the photos.
WHEN are you coming to Maine? I just drove up to Port Clyde yesterday, and it’s so. beautiful. up there. Really. Like, I can’t believe this is part of the state I get to live in beautiful! Anyway, I was thinking of you because I am jealous that you get to go to a wedding up there, and that I hope I see/meet you when you come!
Beautiful. I love the beach. The horseshoe crab reminds me of a story I read recently. The author’s grandfather told a couple they could eat horseshoe crabs, then watched them go to the beach with a cooler to get their dinner!
Nice beach scenes! I haven’t seen a horseshoe crab in years. We don’t have them in Maine. Check out my Wordless Wednesday for a look at the lovely Maine Coast.
catie–they always look so odd, and I’ve seen more than one small child run off screaming at their first sight of them. I love them though…I think they’re one of the things that makes the delaware seashore so unique.
kate–we’re Maine bound on Sunday! woohoo!
Yay for new beach house!!
Beauteous photos Beth. Nice to see a sunny place on such a blah, rainy Wednesday.
It does look like a happy place. (Though I do sometimes remember the beach being a bit moody sometimes when I lived nearby, not a bad thing, just part of the character.) I like the picture with the horseshoe crab.
Wendi–sadly Weather Underground tells me it’s been pretty rainy on broadkill today…nearly 4 inches of rain at the house! Gah! I hope everything isn’t under water when we get their on Friday morning!
I want to be at your happy place!!!!
Your happy place looks a lot like mine – anywhere near the water – except I don’t go in the water above my knees :D
The best thing about the happy place–starting this weekend, we can go there all the time! The family is buying a beach house about 400 feet from this spot! huzzah!
Is this OC? Great pics! That rocks that you are able to go there all the time now.
Melinda–It’s Broadkill Beach in Delaware–it’s on the bay, about 10 miles north of Rehoboth
