July 4th Dreaming

by Beth on June 29, 2012

Confession time. Although I can put together a sweet looking (and tasting cake) I’m not particularly crafty. It has taken me YEARS to recognize this. I’ve always wanted to be crafty. But maybe it’s because I’m not organized, or I’m just lazy, but yeah, the craftiness just isn’t happening.

So while I would like my July 4th tablescapping to look like this:

It will probably look more like this:

Any tips to help me bridge the gap?

But we do take July 4th seriously at the Broadkill Beach Club, so even if I don’t have an amazing tablescape, we will have several amazing things going on. Like our float for the parade. Let’s just say, I think we’re taking it to the next level. Last year, we decorated the Mini and we learned that wasn’t nearly enough.

This is not enough…even if it is from the folks at Martha Stewart living.

These were last year’s winners. They took a Broadkill Beach theme and ran with it. And so that’s sort of what we’re going with this year…and RUNNING with it! Any guesses what we’re doing?

And finally, there will be food. I’m thinking a good old fashioned flag cake, homemade graham crackers, and something with sprinkles. Because summer needs sprinkles!

Can you tell I’m just a little bit excited to spend one of my favorite holidays at one of my favorite places? Because for the fast few years, nothing has said summer to me like a 4th of July at the shore! And I can’t wait to share it all with you!

I would also love to be crafty. Although I try, it never looks as good as the picture or demo.
It sounds to me like you will have a fabulous 4th regardless! :)

I’m not that crafty either, but I try. So glad that you call them sprinkles too! Have a great 4th of July.
