Kori’s Bridal Shower

by Beth on August 19, 2012

This weekend we celebrated a very happy occasion! In just one month my sister will be married, so it was time to shower her with love from friends and family.

Kori’s wedding is Vintage themed at Disney World, but her reception has a tiki theme here at the Broadkill Beach Club. So for her shower, we went with a luau theme. So there were leis, pork barbeque, Lomi Lomi salad, fruit salad, and of course cupackes to celebrate!

Preparing for the shower was a whole family affair, just like all of our BBC parties. Dad made the pulled pork using my grandmother’s Carolina style recipe. Noel thought we needed an authentic Hawaiian dish, so he made a Lomi Lomi salad, which is basically like salmon ceviche. And Eileen and I made a tower of cupcakes. Disney themed of course!!

Almost the whole family gathered together for a little pre-shower fun before the boys headed out, and we did one of our favorite things–we watched the YouTube sensation du jour, DA-Yum. Yeah, watch it. And be ready to go get Five Guys.

Soon the men were off and we were in full on shower mode. We all enjoyed some food, followed by a fun game–the Newlywed Game: Disney Edition. We filmed Larry’s answers to 10 Disney themed questions about him and Kori earlier in the day, and then we asked Kori the same questions during the shower. They did a pretty good job, getting 8 out 10 questions right!

And then of course, presents!

And cupcakes! Everything was lovely, and Kori was a good sport especially with the game, that was a total surprise. It was fun to celebrate with her, and I can’t wait for the big celebration next month!

I was really happy when I found those cupcake toppers in my cake supplies box. They were a last minute edition, but I think they really put the whole thing over the top!!
