PR Weekend!

by Beth on August 5, 2012

Another great weekend at the beach and the official wrap up of the 2012 Summer Championship Series!

And as the title suggests, we had something to celebrate–Noel and I both had PRs at the Dam Mill 5k!! Considering that it was a hot, extremely humid race (really, we had fog at the start that burned off to brutal steam) we were both thrilled with our PRs, even if I was hoping for better weather and a faster time. I finished in 26.28, taking about 10 seconds off the PR I set earlier this summer. I’ve been doing a lot of speedwork, so I’m happy with the results considering the conditions. But Noel was the really amazing one–taking a full minute off his previous PR!! He’s ready to go into his triathalon next week feeling strong!

As is our habit, we opened a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. Because double PRs don’t happen that often! But let’s hope we can both PR at the half marathon distance later this month!!

PS–Can I also say I’m really looking forward to the second week of the Olympics? And cheering on this guy–Matt Centrowitz, who it turns out ran his first race ever with the Seashore Striders! Let’s go USA Track and Field!
