Kori’s Wedding Day!

by Beth on September 24, 2012

For anyone who doesn’t know, my sister did her wedding in a big way. Small in terms of the number of guests, but a big, BIG celebration! At the Happiest Place on Earth–Disneyworld!

The festivities started a few days before the actual wedding, but for us the all girls fun started on Wednesday morning, the day of the big event itself. Kori stayed with us the night before her wedding at the Bay Lake Tower, and Mom ordered us a fancy room service breakfast to celebrate!

The wedding wasn’t until 5 and we had some extra time, so we decided to head for the Animal Kingdom park! Mom had never been there before, and Erin had a few more things she wanted to see. It was hot, but we donned our new matching costume T’s (Mom as Donald, Kori as Minnie, and me as Snow White) and headed into the jungle.

We safaried it up and had time to catch one of Kori’s favorites–The Finding Nemo Musical. I really wanted to ride Dinosaur, but Kori hates that ride, so I figured I would be nice and let her have her wish on her wedding day!!

We were out of the park pretty early, and after a quick run into the local Target (stupid me forgetting stuff at home) we were ready to get ready! I’ll admit, this was probably the part of the day I was most worried about. I had volunteered with confidence, to do everyone’s hair. And then I sort of panicked about this at the last minute, because I’ve only recently been okay doing my own updoes. But it was too late to panic. So I started pinning with confidence.

And then applying makeup with confidence…

And it all turned out okay!

Unfortunately, around this time it also started POURING. The wedding was scheduled to be outside, so Kori talked to the coordinator, but also did a remarkable job keeping calm and rolling with it. I think I would have been crying, but she stayed totally cool. Before we knew it, it was almost time to leave and we were throwing her dress on and pinning her birdcage, before dashing to the car!

We all piled in for the short ride to the Boardwalk. Of course I took pictures in the car. Who do you think I am?

And then we were there! I only had to duck once around security so it wasn’t obvious I was sitting on Dad’s lap. When we arrived, the coordinator (who was a champ) told Kori she was sure they had a window to squeeze the wedding in outside between rainstorms. But we would need to MOVE. So Kori did a few shots in the lobby of the Boardwalk before heading outside. Some of my favorites:

And then, it was time to move! Outside, before the rain! I thought walking to and from the pavilion was really neat, because everyone was smiling as Kori went by.

And then it was time

I loved the look on Larry’s face when he saw Kori. Just so happy. They both looked so happy through the whole thing.

The ceremony was perfect, and probably more memorable because it was hot, and it sounded like the minister was a bit confused about who was who. But those are the things you remember, right?

After a few pictures, we were off to cut the cake and have a champagne toast! I loved the cake, with it’s beautiful fondant cut outs and cute topper. And it actually tasted really good too!

And then it was off to the Boardwalk’s finest restaurant, Kouzzina, for a big family style meal, just like we like em. Much good food, wine, and general merriment was shared by all!

And then, it was time to say goodnight. We headed back to the room for a bit of conversation, then left the newlyweds to head off on their honeymoon the next morning.

I am so happy that my sister has found Larry, and that I was there to help celebrate the start of their lives together. They are both such special and wonderful people, and I’m blessed to have them in my life. Love to you both!

She looks absolutely beautiful! Our wedding was small too – only my Mom, Tony’s parents and each of our kids were the maid of honor and best man – it was perfect!

Aww, love this post! Kori looks really pretty and happy and I love everyone’s oufits. Yay, destination weddings!:) They are so intimate and fun…even pre-wedding! It doesn’t look like rain in the pictures and I’m glad things worked out as planned.
